JosephineParticipantI don’t think this is really a problem. All the girly-pink and boy-blue packaging is just a marketing tool to make the products stand out to specific genders. Whether cultural or not, girls are visually drawn to pink, boys to blue. It just affects what they notice first, not what they ultimately play with. I didn’t have progressive parents, but when I was a child, we had girl’s toys, along with Hot Wheels and ‘boy’s’ building toys. It never worried anyone, and none of my friends made fun of me for it. In fact, they enjoyed the boy’s toys as well. Now I’m an adult, and am in no way gender-confused. By the way, I have never met a young girl who’s embarrassed to own a Gameboy.
