Although this question is one a sociologist could answer best but let me answer it from a policeman’s point of view. Because of distrust in the black community or police officers,when an incident occurs like one described, black leaders immediately assume some kind of foul play,even where none exists. What a great opportunity to get their faces on tv. In other words,in the black community,the white policeman is thought guilty of some type of misconduct,even before any facts come to light. Of course,if the white policeman is found to have acted appropriately,then there must be some kind of ‘cover-up.’ The NY incident is an extreme example and I will not comment on it simply because I was not there. I’ll bet no one posting here was actually there when it happened either. As far as police ‘targeting’ blacks,ask yourself these questions: What ethnic group requests the most calls for police service in relation the percentage of population? In which ethnic group’s community is there the highest crime rate? Which ethnic group glamorizes the ‘thug life’ and all that goes with it (guns,women as bitches,dope,etc.)? If you do not know the answers, listen to a police scanner in an ethnically diverse area, it will become obvious even after a few hours,listen to rap music.
