I’m white and I have an amazingly keen sense of smell. I agree that there are certain smells notable among some people from India and Pakistan. Sometimes there is body odor involved, but often it is a strange, musty smell. I never understood it. until now. Recently we’ve started making tons of indian food in our house. Not just currys–but dishes that use a dizzying array of unpronouncable spices. Much different than what you get in a typical indian restaurant. The smells are simlar to the mustiness I’ve noted on indians. And (this part is gross) the smell of my flatus is musty, too. I think those spices are VERY aromatic! I suspect if you went to India you’d stop noticing the smell after two or thre days.
