Over the years, the telling of the Passion has been used as a reason (and is associated with) violence against the Jews. Jews are portrayed as Christ-killers, which only serves to perpetuate these views (even though this has been denounced by the Vatican). While Christians may view the movie with one perspective, Jews are reminded of violence and prejudicial actions against them along with the stereotypical views. In addition, while the movie has not caused a backlash against Jews so much in this country, in Europe, Asia, and Middle East countries acts of anti-semitism have increased.
