‘Mormons’ actually prefer not to be called Mormons. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As this name implies, we are believers in Jesus Christ as our Savior and as God. To answer your question briefly, Yes, we believe in Heaven and Hell. But it’s not quite as simple as ‘Good/Bad,Heaven/Hell.As Christ taught, ‘In my Father’s a house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.’ John, 14:2 KJV. We believe that all humans will be judged according to how well they have lived in accordance with God’s laws as taught in the Scriptures. Since, obviously, not all humans are familiar with the Scriptures, then we will each be judged according to how well we did with what we knew in this life. Each of us will be accorded a place in the hereafter based on their behavior in this life. Jesus emphasized kind treatment of each other. Christian or non-believer, everyone has a concience that dictates correct actions in human relations. Our ‘mansion’ and whether it ends up a place of rest or torment will be determined in large part on how we treat our fellow human beings. Since we all make mistakes, Christ’s ‘grace’ can atone for the sins of sincere individuals.
