We all smell. Not only do we have a characteristic ‘ethnic’ scent (due to cultural factors, i.e., diet), but also a personal scent, due to our own physical nature (i.e., pheromones). However, because we are constantly ‘smelling ourselves,’ this personal scent becomes unnoticeable to us (just like we eventually ignore any stimulus to which we are constantly exposed, as a noise, for example). I think in some cultures it may be common not to shower daily, and not to wear deodorant. Some Indians may be described as belonging to one of these cultures. However, they most likely are oblivious to this ‘smell’ you describe: you notice it, but they don’t. And perhaps you ‘smell funny’ to them as well.

Do I enjoy smelling somebody’s BO? Heck no! But I couldn’t be so blunt to complain to them, or even suggest they ‘take a bath’ or ‘put on some deodorant.’
