A couple years ago a friend of mine found out her father was Native American. You’d have never guessed it from looking at her big green eyes, fair, freckly skin, button nose and light brown hair. She just took after her white mother. And though my great-grandfather Leonard had a great deal of Indian ancestry, I’m a pale little mushroom. So, yes, you can be part Native American and still look white. Family stories usually have some degree of truth behind them. Look deeper into your family’s history. Find your oldest relatives and gather as much information as you can.
