I was born deaf, but raised in a hearing world. I’ve always felt different, and struggled to fit in with both the deaf and hearing. Now 21 years old, I’ve finally accepted my deafness. Put it this way, sometimes being deaf is a blessing in disguise. My husband snores really loud, but once I take my hearing aids out, I get a good night rest. Now I worry about losing what little hearing I have left. My husband and two girls are hearing, I often wonder how I’ll be able to communicate with them, because none of us sign.
