If I have to be pigeon-holed, I am an agnostic/atheist. But its much more accurate to say I’m ‘not religious’. I really wish there was a ‘none’ option for religion on this site. I grew up celebrating christmas and easter, and was aware of thier religious intent, but wasn’t really concerned with it. My parents let me figure things out for myself, and would only answer questions I brought to them-they never sat me down and indoctrinated me. If i decided not to celebrate christmas because of its religious intent it would: 1. devistate my family – not because of my beliefs, but because i’d be breaking a tradition of getting together as a family. im not willing to do this. 2. leave me feeling left out of something that was very magical when i was growing up. So i keep doing it. it was never about celebrating any kind of diety for me. If i turned my back to christmas it would be because its a cesspool of commercialism. its a holiday that tells you: if you love someone, you will buy them something. if you dont buy things, you are a bad person.
