 EbonyParticipant- I think what you’re thinking of is the distinction between ‘colored people’ and ‘people of color.’ ‘Colored’ was the name given to Black Americans only during the 40’s & 50’s. (There were other, less flattering labels used for Hispanics and Asians during that time). These days, ‘people of color’ is now the politically correct term to refer to ‘non-white’ people – it’s NAACP, not NAAPC.
