DevinParticipantThe short answer is because Puerto Ricans are a people of mixed races. Puerto Rican is their ‘nationality’, not their race. Many, many, many Puerto Ricans are of mixed race. There are Black Puerto Ricans, White Puerto Ricans, Black/White Puerto Ricans, Oriental/Black/White Puerto Ricans, etc. Look at Rosie Perez and Jennifer Lopez. Both of them sport coloring, facial and body characteristics that spring from African ancestry (whether they chose to embrace that fact or not) These mixtures sometimes produce exotic blends of beauty in Puerto Rican (and other)women. Of course it goes the other way also.
