My guess is they want to get to know you better. It is true, however, that you might not get to find this out, even if you approach them. Nineteen-year-old boys always seem to find members of the opposite sex interesting across many cultural and ethnic boundaries. Acting on that interest is something else entirely. Flying through boys’ minds are probably questions ranging from ‘What would my rabbi/mom/friend think?’ to ‘Gee, I wonder what she looks like naked.’ If you dress or act differently than the Jewish girls they know, all the more reason to stare – and all the more questions.
