Dave26024ParticipantIn New Zealand, which is populated mainly by people of Westen European descent, circumscision was quite popular 20-30 years ago. Approximately half of boys were cut at that time. There are no religious reasons for it here as therer are few Jews but it was quite popular amongst Catholics for some reason. Now its very rare(less than 5%) and most people don’t buy into the argumnant that a son should look like their father. I worked on legislation to ban femlae genital mutilation a few years ago and therer was quite a major movement to ban male circumscision too.
