Danielle27229ParticipantThe Confederate flag represents so much more than slavery in the 1800s. It also represents the Civil War and the liberation of the slaves. Without that flag, it is possible that the Emancipation Proclamation would not have been signed and blacks might still be slaves. The Confederate flag serves as a symbol of freedom, justice, and lessons learned. Some people display it out of hate, but, when they do that, they cite their defeat in the Civil War and in the struggle for racial equality and recognition.
