Dan27183ParticipantIf I remember correctly, Nietzsche’s suggestion is that society has become enlightened and evolved to the point that the concept of God is no longer necessary or beneficial. #1. This implies that God is a fairy tale created so man could sleep at night. #2. This implies that human society, western or otherwise, had always been in tune with the will of God in the past, or at least went through periods of being in accordance with the will of God. I believe neither premise is correct whatsoever. If it’s the notion that God died some time ago, then it makes no logical sense (God in principle is eternal, and in principle is who holds the universe together). If it’s ‘God is dead’ as an argument for atheism… well, that’s an argument that will keep on going until the end of the world.
