South Asian immigrants only know of black/African American culture from what they’ve seen on television and in the movies, and that, as we all know, is not exactly ‘positive’. Their culture also has a long history of being very ‘proper,’ with rules and regulations of how one behaves. Many see the stereotypes in TV and start thinking that black Americans are, well, not ‘well polished,’ as they say.
