I work at an upscale restaurant and give all my customers awesome service. On average my tips from white customers are 20 percent or more, and my tips from black customers are 2 to 10 percent. I am not racist, but on the whole, only a fraction of my black customers tip well. This goes for British people as well. And just for those who do not know, the average server makes $2.13 an hour and gets taxed on at least 8 percent of his or her food sales, and THEN has to tip out bartenders, bussers, etc., so for those who do not tip, your server is actually losing money by waiting on you.
