It's more economic than racial. The problem with illegal Mexican immigrants is that they are overwhelmingly poor. They provide cheap labor that depresses wages. They put pressure on public services like emergency rooms and especially schools. Poor people simply don't pay enough taxes to support the services that they demand. Yes, they provide cheaper goods and services, but I would rather pay an extra 25 cents for a head of lettuce than have overcrowded schools and jails, bankrupt hospitals and freeways crowded with uninsured motorists.
