This isn’t a racial issue. While managing editor of a small-town newspaper I got this kind of thing all time (every time somebody’s cousin’s best-friend’s ex got thrown in jail, for instance). Like someone above said, it’s a class issue. And, perhaps people who fail at jobs/life on their own feel they need the backing of their ‘crew,’ as they can never seem to win alone. Anyway, I’ve seen lots and lots of poor whites bring in cousins from the hills and their ‘hillbilly mafia’ when someone ‘wrongs their kin.’ By the way, having grown up with these people I feel no remorse for making fun of them. Not all whites are trash and not all blacks are bums, but some of every group deserve the term ‘moron.’
