Barb-OParticipantGeneralizing men vs. women golfers is probably inaccurate, because skill level plays a part in how fast or slow a golfer plays. Beginners are usually slower golfers because they take more strokes. Although women don’t hit the ball as far as the men do, they also don’t hit as far OFF the fairway. Beginning men golfers spend a lot of time looking for their drives in the rough. I’d guess that low-skill women and men play at about the same speed. The women who play in my golf league (in Arizona) are all quite fast golfers. If the course sends a foursome of men off in front of us, the men usually hold us up. It has been my experience that most men are quite slow on the greens. They putt as though they were in a PGA tournament and many dollars were riding on the outcome. Women don’t do that. Perhaps the men watch too much golf on TV!
