As with many groups, who you talk to can generate a great variety of answers for the same question. So, here are a few comments/positions I have learned over the years: (1.) The Messiah may come when every Jew honors the Sabbath (I’m not sure if this requires that it be all on the same one, or just a Sabbath) in full – no work, no driving, fires, etc. The dead will be raised, everyone will be “carried” to the Holy Land and Judgement will commence. (2.) An era of total peace will follow the revelation of the Messiah, but I still don’t know where that leaves those who “failed” Judgement! (3.) The Messiah will be a descendant of King David and will be revealed and heralded by the prophet Elijah. Elijah is sort of given the status of not dead and not alive, carried to heaven in a chariot of fire, he can reappear on Earth as needed, to teach, rescue, reveal, etc.
