It seems to me that men tend to act like boys when they don’t know how to act in a particular situation. Sometimes that’s because they’re uncomfortable, sometimes it’s because they’re insensitive and don’t understand how inappropriate it seems to other people, and sometimes it’s because they’re still boys and aren’t ready to act too grown-up. The idea of girls maturing faster than boys tends to hold true until the boys catch up sometime in their early twenties or so, but then again, some boys mature faster and others don’t seem to mature much at all.
