AugustineParticipantI prefer dealing in cash because it’s readily accepted by everyone, there’s no checkbook to balance and, quite frankly, I think it’s kind of presumptuous to assume that someone else will take your check without at least one form of positive ID. I have noticed that women, first of all, do not deal in cash all that much (fear of being robbed?), and seem to have more to fumble through (pocketbook, wallet, checkbook, etc.). A wallet and cash are pretty straightforward. Also, when I was in retail, I noticed that elderly people often thrust their money at you before you’re ready to ring up the purchase or make change. I’d be interested to know why there is this generational difference.
