I am African American and was never offended by the lecture, but I was offended by the fact that all of the white people in the room looked at me when the subject was mentioned. Did they expect me to burst into tears or something? Also, some of the ignorant remarks the white people made offended me, such as ‘Why can’t they (meaning black people) just get over slavery? It was a LONG time ago!’
