This does not prove that black females are more sexually active. It just proves that there are fewer black females having abortions and givng up their children for adoption. There seem to be more black girls with children because white girls tend to abort or give up their kids. Now check those stats. As a black female I can also say that none of my friends have children and we are well above our teens and the ones who do have had them in the last five years or have adopted or taken over the care of a relative’s child or in the case of my sister who is a year older than me, has foster kids. None of my younger teenage or twenty-something cousins have had or have kids as teens so forget that ‘Black women are more promiscuous crap.’

Stephanie, I think that you are mistaken. Not every teen fashion is gang related.Skin heads are a gang and they don’t necessarily listen to rap and the close they wear are usually tight and small looking. And as far as rap goes all rap isn’t about sex, drugs, and money. A lot of rappers talk about other things and are very positive for example, Common, Kanye West,The Fugees(Wyclef John and Lauryn Hill have solo records worth checking out), The Roots, Nas, Miss Dynamite, Q-Tip, Queen Latifah etc. Check some of these out. They may change your opinion about hiphop. Also check out some of the older rappers such as A tribe called Quest, The Jungle Brothers,Mc Lyte,Afrikaa Bambataa,Krs-one and Boogie Down Productions etc. and Especially Public Enemy. There are so many to name. There are also Christian or Gospel rappers such as T-bone and The Grits. There are alot of groups that rapped about dancing and having fun or are and wer strictly comedic like Kid n Play, Kwame and of course Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince(aka Will Smith, The most positive Brotha on the planet. Hellllooo!)You also have to understand the history of hiphop. It did not always include Gangsta rap. It was mostly political or like dance music for a very long time, but it when it was introduced to the white population it was considered a fad and not going to last so alot of radio stations did not play it or refused to acknowledge it.Even though it still grew in popularity. It wasn’t until the group N.W.A. came along (who is known for the type of lyrics you mentioned) came along and sold millions without radio airplay did the powers that be wanted to be involved with hiphop. I think this prompted a large amount of up and coming rappers to follow that lead and thus Gangsta rap was born and although it has influenced many, I think a majority of people, young and old don’t really relate and are not tyring to mimic this behavior for style of dress. Also let’s talk about some rock music. some of it is not always the most positive. An example of this are groups like Motley Crew whos lyrics are sexually explicit sometimes, Marlyn Manson who talks about devil worship and murder and the old grunge group Nirvana who had a songs about rape and suicide to name a few. But like hiphop it also positive artists as well. My point is give the kids a break and te music some cred. They don’t all listen to Gangsta rap and model the way they dress and act after it and all hiphop is not gangsta rap.
