ACC24051ParticipantWhat’s been conspicuously left out of the answers is the veiled racist undertone of this preference – that blond is perceived as “more white” and thus supposedly more attractive. One person said lightness is always perceived as more attractive. Not so. Light or pale skin has often been perceived as unhealthy by most cultures, such as traditional African, American Indian, etc. Perceiving lightness as the most beautiful is most common where colonialism has left its mark.
