connyMemberi wanted to raise a question that was introduced on yforum in the 90’s. an issue aroused were a little african american boy was told by his father that he was black, the boy said ‘no i am brown ‘. the boy’s father explained. i think im a logical person, and I agree, the little boy has a point, Black is a color, not an ethnicty, or a place of orgin. in every other ethnicity the prefix of their country is used in their ethnic title for example:Japanese-Japan, Mexican -Mexico, Russian-russia and german-germany the list goes on. These name implies that they have a country , a place of orgin, most important they have history.(this is not coincidental) Wheather we like it or not we are from african descent. and i never heard of a state, country, or continent called black. so i ask why black instead of African-American?
