Why do some black children have way out names? Most are somewhat original except for the ‘eeka, ika and isha’ at the end. I know different cultures have different names that have meaning, but some of the names are too much, too complicated and sometimes not phonetic. Hyphens, dashes, accent mark, etc. What’s the deal? I sorta laugh at the notion that in 50 years, someone is going to have a grandmother named Ebotanisha and a grandfather named Joshamente. Did I miss the movement when we decided to curse our kids with crazy names? By the way, my pen name is not my name name.
