CamilleParticipantWhat would it take for an employer to hire a teenager? I’ve been looking for a job for 8 months now, and don’t know why I haven’t been hired. I have good grades, am in an honor society and on my school’s academic team.

ShirleyAveryParticipantEven though this is being answered years later, let me respond. 1. Are you speaking proper English? Some blacks, even well educated ones, speak an Ebonics type language even on interviews. That will limit your opportunities. 2. Are you applying for jobs that you’re truly qualified for? 3. At the time you wrote this question, you didn’t have a h.s. diploma. Have you gotten a diploma or GED? If not, that may be holding you back. 4. Life isn’t fair. 5. Supply and demand. I’m white, college educated and experienced, yet I am not hired for the vast majority of jobs I apply for. They never give a reason. Just Curious
