Wow! In movies, books and TV shows, families are generally portrayed as a warm fuzzy unit that provides love, safety & protection. For those of us raised in alcoholic, abusive or otherwise dysfunctional families, the term “family” connotes a scary, unhappy group of people we must protect ourselves from. Counseling may help the above, but if alcoholics, abusers and other dysfunctional family members don’t participate in recovery, it may be impossible to reconcile with them. Just Curious
