Why does the black community support people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton when these two men do more to further discrimination than any other people in America? It just seems to me that these two men do all they can to ‘put down’ the black American. Their constant calls for special favors and laws for the black community is really derogatory–they are saying that a black person cannot do anything on their own merit, but need to have special interventions because of their race in order to achieve something in this country. Discrimination is discrimination-no matter which way it goes. Special laws for a specific color of humanbeing is racist and discriminatory–no matter what your color. Asking for special favors because of race is discriminatory. Yes, America has made mistakes in the past, but we need to move on. Everyone talks about slavery–what no one talks about is that the US was the FIRST modern country to do away with slavery in the 1800’s. Today, slavery still exits in the middle eastern countries-they buy and sell humans daily. Why is this fact ignored while we wallow in something that happened 250 years ago and cannot be changed now? Move on people! Move on and let it go. Yesterday is the past and cannot be changed. Tomorrow is the future and is yet to be seen. Today is here and now and is the ‘present’–lets appreciate it for that fact alone.
