To what extent do black youth take the messages of hip hop (materialism, misogyny, revenge) to heart and to what extent are they able to separate the fantasy world of pop music from real life? when I was a teen 80’s hair and devil metal were all the rage. it did skew my perception of women (they were all secretly horny all the time) but I managed to avoid becoming a goat blood drinkin’ Satanist.
