Why do some bilingual/multilingual people get obsessed with ‘losing’ their accents when they speak a language that is not their maternal language? Why make an effort to do so, rather than letting time and practice take its course? I can understand wanting to pronounce correctly, and even switching a ‘regional’ accent to a more ‘neutral’ one. What’s so wrong with a foreign accent?
