I think you hit it right on the nose really. It didn’t affect me, anybody I know, anybody I’m friends with, or anybody I care about. I know it sounds cold, but I am fairly indifferent to the plight of my fellow man. I make no apologies for it – that’s just the way it is. If you’re not smart enough to leave when a Hurricane comes – you get what you get – and if you live ANYWHERE along the coast, you have to be willing to accept Hurricanes as a part of life. I live in Florida – as soon as they say one is going to hit in my area – I leave. Since I’m tired of dealing with things like that, my girlfriend and I are moving to the Midwest. I’d rather live in the foothills where I won’t have to worry about it ever again.

People care about whatever the news tells them they should. Why do you think that there was such a huge deal about Terri Schiavo and so little about the hundred of thousands of dead in Darfur? I think the cause and effect are the opposite of what most people think they are. The news doesn’t report what people care about the most, people care about what the news reports the most.
