As a young Hispanic male I am not only aware of racism but have been a ‘victim’ of it. I know that there are many ignorant people (applying to all races) and I know that I can’t change that. What I can’t answer is why do we as minorities, Hispanics and Blacks, keep ourselves down, insulting others of our own race when they speak correctly. I learn very, very quickly and have honors classes. I have very high goals in life I want to achieve. I speak correctly, and have good manners. Why do I find that some of my family members and friends say that I’m too ‘White’? Another thing I have noticed that when a black person makes it big and buys nice cars and moves out of “the hood” they’re automatically seen as “sell-outs”? Don’t we, as minorities, live where ‘All men are created equal’? Then why is it that we see success and prosperousness is only viewed as “White”?
