Rick20819ParticipantI guess it’s for the same reason it’s so hard for people of other ethnicities to quit smoking: it’s highly-addictive.

Jason-GehrmanParticipantI dont think its a case of Asians ‘not being able to quit’. I lived in Japan for 5 years and have spent time in other Asian countries. There is definitely a lack of general health warnings in regards to smoking compared to western countries. Advertising (smoking) is also more prevalent. In Japan they have vending machines on the street for cigarettes and beer. Something that would never happen in U.S, Australia etc. The surprising thing was that young people didnt abuse these machines like young people would back home. There was a growing trend towards non-smoking though, and more younger people expressing a dislike for smoking.

mg28621ParticipantSmoking is an addiction. It’s as hard for Asians to quit as it is for any other race. Why? Because it’s an addiction. Seems kind of obvious to me.

Peter28700ParticipantFor the same reason it’s so difficult for many europeans and caucasian Americans to stop. Because Nicotine is Addictive
