CharisseMemberWhy it is when you have an African-American in Corporate America there is always fear? Let me explain myself. I am an intelligent, articulate, and diversified female. I have a lot to offer society and more so my company in respects to knowledge. I find that when I am assertive with my colleagues they take it the wrong way. They say that I am bossy, hard to get along with basically confrontational. I am none of the above. When I believe in something I believe in it. Don’t get me wrong I am not one to fly off the handle talking about things that I am not an expert in. I research and then give my opinions or advise on a matter. I am a Quality Engineer, a field that is not full of African-American women. I felt like a lot of my colleagues were afraid of my skills and knowledge. BUT, they would take what I said in a discussion and run to our boss and give him MY IDEAS and receive praise for a well thought out solution to a problem. BUT when those ideas came from my mouth they weren’t good enough. They were always looked at as if I did not know what I was speaking of. But, my white colleagues could say the very same thing and it was a revolutionary idea. Can someone please tell me why black people, women are feared for their knowledge????
