Why do the British refer to Argentina as ‘the Argentine’? Is this some kind of archaism, or is there some reason (besides having one of their colonies claimed by Argentina, i.e., the Falklands or Malvinas) that Britons prefer to regard it as a geographical area rather than a sovereign country?
