Black Americans refer to themselves as African Americans even though they were not born and raised in Africa. I was born and raised on the continent and continue to live here. The implication of the title ‘African American’ is that one has to be black to be African. As a white person, am I therefore not African and should I be deported? If so, where? I have French, German, English, Scottish, Dutch, Irish and Danish blood in me – which country wants me? My advice to black Americans is to stop using such a racist term.
