ConfusedMemberI have this guy friend that I’ve known for a few years and he once thought I was ‘attractive’, but I told him that I just wanted us to be friends. After lots of consideration and my stressful sophomore year of college taking it’s toll on me, I decided to cut my shoulder-length hair very short (like Audrey Hepburn). My friend and I have hung out a few times (but rarely since I go to college 45 minutes away from home and he works at home), and we always talk on AOL Instant Messenger. A few nights ago, he suddenly asks me on AIM…..FRIEND: hey r u gonna grow your hair long anytime soon? ME [after a long pause]: mmmmm…I like it short, it’s easier to handle FRIEND: ehhhhh 🙁 ME: *pouts* what? you don’t like short hair? FRIEND: Not really ME [v-e-r-y long pause]: well, I like it…and that’s all that matters! 🙂 [didn’t really know what to say, so I thought I’d end it on a positive note] FRIEND: yea…..What the hell does this mean? I mean, what made this guy think that it was OK to ask me about my physical appearance like he just did? To me, it almost sounded like when a boyfriend and girlfriend try to change each other, but we’re just FRIENDS! Bottom line: I just thought it was rude of him to ask me that because it came off as if he was saying there’s something wrong about what I look like. What do you think and can you try and justify why he asked me this? Thanks!
