I’ve always wondered what happened to the ‘cool’ people in high school in life. I went to two high schools, one had 300 people in each class and was really clique-y; the second one had 600 and was definitely not cool to be clique-y and to put other people down because they were different. I think there needs to be a certain threshold of people for cliques to develop. In any case, inevitably the ‘cool’ people were the kind of people who put other people down all the time and were definitely bullies. It’s interesting now that I’m older I can look book at it, and that sort of behavior is so completely unacceptable in any other place but high school, as well as illegal in some cases (racial harassment and taunting, assault.) Why do bullies feel the need to pick on other people, and what happens to them in life? My brother in law went to his 20 year high school reunion, he says in general that if your peak years were in high school then that’s just sad because life is just downhill from there for them. I’m wondering if other people find this true.
