I’m from Texas but live in the Northeast. When people find out I’m from Texas, they invariably ask me why I don’t have a Texas accent or feel a need to point out that I don’t have one. Do non-Texans really think we all have accents? And why do they feel the need to point out that I (and many others) don’t have one?
