I have a job where I’m in people’s homes every day. I’ve noticed- and several co-workers have commented to me- that there is a particular ‘smell’ to a large majority of homes where elderly people reside. I’m not talking about food smells, medication smells (Ben-Gay, etc.), hygiene smells, etc., just a hard-to-describe odor. Is there some kind of biochemical ‘funk’ that humans emit as we get older, and can it permeate a whole house ?
