Whitney-T24445ParticipantWhy do some light-skinned black people discriminate against dark-skinned black people?

Annie23897ParticipantActually, the reverse has been the case for me growing up on several accounts. As a lighter skinned Black girl, the darker skinned girls assumed i MUST think i am better and prettier than they are, and they ostracized and tormented me. This left me to make friends with the white girls and so i hung with them all the time, (which of course made the problem worse). What they thought was discrimation was just a terrible shyness on my part and a longing to fit in somewhere. My suggestion to you is get to know your lighter skinned sistas, you’ll find they are as eager to get to know you if you give them the chance.
