T27551ParticipantWhat does it take, as far as money, time, preparation, surgery, etc., to perform a male-to-female transsexual change?

Jessica30841ParticipantWell, there are a lot of good books on the subject. According to current professional standards, you have to live full time in your target gender for at least a year. Generally transsexual women spend a good deal longer than that saving for surgery. It costs about 15 thousand for the surgery itself; associated cosmetic surgery it can cost two or three times that. Electrolysis is a weekly process, sometimes for years; it is the single most expensive item for most MTF transsexuals, as it can cost seven thousand or so a year for five or more years. The hardest part is dealing with how mean people are without taking it into yourself.

MelindaParticipantto be sure thats really what that person wants to do and for the right reason. its final and non reverseable in terms of the sex organs being restored. some who have had the surgery later wish they didnt but didnt know until they did. also to see if that person can function and live as the sex they desired before the actual surgery. kind of a test drive around the block before actually buying, so to speak. in addition, it takes time for the transition in terms of body development and adjustment. its not something that happens in one day.
