[G-P-Axe]

Why do so many black Americans call themselves African Americans? Given the horrors occurring every day in Africa, the butchery and the genocide (read Out of America by Keith Richburg, a black author, as well as your daily papers), why anybody would claim allegiance to Africa (which country, by the way) is beyond my understanding. Can someone answer this without resorting to the tired rhetoric that I must be a racist?
