From recent polls, a majority of Americans seems to support having a monument to the Ten Commandments in a courthouse. Why is this? Our country was founded upon separation of Church and State and also on freedom of religion (which can also be interpreted as freedom FROM religion). It seems okay if Christianity is *your* religion, but follow the logic: If someone proposed erecting monuments to selected texts from, say, the Qur’an or the Bhagavad Gita, wouldn’t that only be fair?
