David-O25849ParticipantWhy don’t Christians who use Leviticus 20:13 to justify their belief that homosexuality is a sin not advocate the death penalty for active gays, as that Bible passage commands?

Michael F.ParticipantI used to deal with the question of why do we not follow the Law. I looked at Galatians, a letter written to a church struggling with Jews trying to convince the church to follow Jewish laws and customs. In Galatians 3:15-25 the law is described as a tutor to lead to Christ, and we are no longer under a tutor. The other reference comes from Acts 15:24-29. This is a letter written to the Gentile churches advising them of what Jewish traditions they needed to follow in order to not offend them. It is true that the Law demands death for many of the immoral acts that occur nowadays. In my reading and experience, Jesus is asking us to hate the sin but love the sinner. This means to address the issue of homosexuality being a sin, but still reach out to them, speaking of Jesus as a Savior.
