While tattoos and piercing have been around since the dawn of the human race, they seem to be gaining in popularity. I was wondering about the backgrounds and reasons of those who get them. Also how others view them.

Most people say they want to ‘make a statement’ by these things, but because so many people do it it isn’t really a statement anymore – except maybe to say ‘I’m a teen, or want to be.’ I want a tattoo (I’m not allowed) not to make a statement, but to have something permanent and unique. Right now, nothing seems to be very permanent. I know a tatto is just a small thing, but I still reckon I would like it. I would only want a small one, anyway.
