With so many persons having been cleared by DNA testing, which proved their innocense, why is the death penalty yet popular? Since the death penalty is not seen by killers as much of a deterrant, is it society’s need for some form of retribution to dissuade killers that is driving this woeful thirst for blood? It is cheaper to imprison killers than to execute them, and with the inept police and legal work sorrunding these crimes, does it make more sense not to kill them?
